And now for something completely practical! I am seeing a lot of folks with gut disruption. We have all become wary of tomatoes and peppers from the grocery store, and before that it was what? Spinach? When your food passes through many hands the chance there will be a bug that eventually gets you grows and grows. We have a generally reliable food supply- but, not infallible. Prevention is best- know who your farmers are would be Rule #1, buy local-grown and fresh. And - Wash Everything! If you get into distress, the following will help. If there is fever, or signs of dehydration, which little kids are especially prone to- lethargy, dull eyes, dry-looking lips- get to your doctor.

Logan Smith has died. This not-quite 10 year old was in his mother’s arms when the kidney cancer he traveled with for 7 months ended his life. His family has spent these months knit tightly around him. His 2 brothers, his mom and her partner, all nested in and went with him as far as anyone possibly can, on the journey we will all take. Surrounding them is a larger community of family and friends and care providers that has been present with practical and energetic loving support. It has been at times unspeakably agonizing to stay present to the death journey of this child. Witnessing the love that was poured out in response to these demands, especially on and from his Mom, and on his closest family, and the relentless fortitude and attention they have paid to every moment with Logan, is a source of learning and inspiration that now reverberates through many lives.

Essential Oils can be powerful medicine to help you fall asleep. Your sense of smell, and the olfactory nerve are a major pathway defining your mood and your physical energy. Essential oils are a safe, effective and non-drug method you can use to produce a deep, restful sleep. They are great when added to an Epsom salt bath or infused into your room.

Not everyone has the time or even wants to slog through research reports to find out where the cutting edge of medical research is taking us. However, often enough we find ourselves needing to make a decision, or wanting to make a change, that we need to feel really sure about. That’s when we want to read the research. A fresh wind of generosity, of open access to information, is blowing open what used to be the closed doors of science. Open Access is a new model of independent publishing that makes research available to everyone.

I borrowed the following from Mike Adams who runs NaturalNews. This is especially exciting for those women who want to use herbal medicine to support their well-being. “Extract of black cohosh may halt the growth of breast cancer cells, according to a new study conducted by the French company Naturex and published in the journal “Phytomedicine.” The study was funded by the National Institutes of Health and the Susan G.

There’s a lot of bad news about drugs. Some of the biggest sellers, the ones that block stomach acid, like Zantac, Prilosec and Tagamet, cause a nearly 250% increased risk of dementia. According to the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) the risk of hip fracture increases by 22% after one year and nearly 60% after four years in people using similar gut “soothers” like Prilosec, Nexium, Prevacid. The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has warned that the diabetes medication, Avandia, will increase the risk of heart attacks by up to 40%. Hormone replacement therapy for women and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs have been taken off the market after thousands of people were made ill or died from drug effects.
